Coonawarra Region

"....most wine authorities acknowledge that Coonawarra is Australia's greatest red wine district, and one of the producers of great reds of the world."

Coonawarra Day Tours

The Coonawarra Day Tour is a personalised and private tour for the lovers of fine wine. The Coonawarra Wine Region, world renown for the production of Cabernet Sauvignon also makes some of Australia's best award winning Riesling, Merlot and other varietals.

This tour offers you a great opportunity to try and buy these award winning wines made by many wine companies both Corporate and Family owned, large and small.

Most of the Coonawarra wine companies have cellar doors that are open daily, however for the few that require an appointment and if required, I will arrange a visit.

Tour Information

The Coonawarra Day Tour commences at 10-30 am from any hotel or other accomodation venue in The Limestone Coast Region.

Immediately following your pickup, we will formulate the itinerary based on your wine preferences and palate. A short town tour around Mount Gambier  featuring the Main Corner Complex, Commercial Street, the world famous Blue Lake and the Lady Nelson Visitor Centre will commence the tour.*

Penola, the main town in the Coonawarra Region lies 50kms north of Mount Gambier and is reached via the Riddoch Highway, or slightly longer from other regional towns. The drive to Penola is a very pleasant 45 minute ride through pine forest plantations, dairy and beef farming and open gum country.

The first possible wine tasting can be experienced in the Penola main street if selected.

It is expected that 6 cellar door outlets will be visited during the day with a break for the delicious Ploughmans or cheese platter which will be served in one of the beautiful gardens along the route (weather permitting). Cool bottled water is offered during the day so palates are not too overloaded between tastings.

Lunch - A Plowmans or Cheese platter and cool bottled water are served during the tour.

A healthy snack, map and tourist information are also complimentary.
